Navigating the Online Application

The Fund for Teacher's grant application must be completed online. Before you begin, please read the Application Guidelines. (These can be found by clicking APPLY on the FFT website.) The guidelines are your number one source for questions regarding your proposal, the application process, and deadlines.

Creating an Account

At the end of the Application Guidelines, click "APPLY"

After clicking "apply" you will be directed to this page:

Registration requires that you have a valid, working email address. Your email address can only be registered once with our application. You can create your own password. You will receive an email verifying your registration. This email will contain your password - please keep it for your records.

After registering, you will be automatically directed to the login page. Login to proceed with the application.

Following login, you will be asked to identify yourself as either an individual or as a member of a team.

Team Applicants: Please note that the first person to initiate your team application will be designated as the team lead. The team lead will be responsible for entering in his or her personal information as well as the team’s proposal and budget. Additional team members will also register with the database, but will only be responsible for entering their personal information. All team members will use the same team name. Teams are also responsible for creating a team name. Team name should not include ANY identifying information.

NOTE: EACH PAGE OF THE ONLINE APPLICATION HAS A 30 MINUTE TIME LIMIT. PLEASE SAVE YOUR WORK!!

Page One: COVER SHEET

The cover sheet contains contact information for both you and your school. In addition to typical information such as addresses and telephone numbers, you will also need your principal's email address.

The cover sheet also asks for a brief description of your proposed fellowship. This should be a 1-2 sentence (no more than 200 characters) that captures the essence of your project. Keep the following in mind: where are you going? What is the activity? What are your expectations for learning?

Once you have completed the application (with or without submitting), you must print your coversheet and have it signed by both you and your principal. On the last page of the application there is a button labeled "PREVIEW APPLICATION BEFORE SUBMITTING". After clicking this button a pop-up window will appear. Print the application using your browser's standard printing function.

Coversheets must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 16, 2007.

Page Two: PROPOSAL

Before completing the proposal section of your application, we suggest that you type the answers to each proposal section in a word processor. It is much easier to cut and paste a paragraph that has been checked for both spelling and grammar errors, rather than typing your responses into the text boxes found within the application.

Do not include your school name(s), your name, your school principal's name, or the names of your colleagues on this page. Any identifying information will be removed by Fund for Teachers or our administrative partners.

TEAMS: The team lead is the only team member who will be able to enter in the proposal body or budget.

Page Three: ITEMIZED BUDGET

The itemized budget sheet is where you will list the individual costs associated with your fellowship. The following are the expendable categories: transportation, lodging, participation costs, materials, equipment fees, and other.

To select more than one subcategory, hold down the "CTRL" key and use your mouse to select the items that accurately reflect your fellowship.

The total of all your proposed costs should equal the Total Budget Requested that you entered on your coversheet. If the totals do not equal you cannot continue with your application.

TEAMS: The totals on the itemized budget sheet should reflect the team as a whole, not for (1) individual. Again, only the team lead will be responsible for completing this section of the application.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

At the bottom of the itemized budget page there are three options for handling your application: previewing, saving, or submitting.

Remember you must use the preview function to print your cover sheet.

The Save and Continue Later function should be used when you plan on returning to your application for editing before submission.

Only click Save and Submit Application when you are sure you would like to submit your application. Once you have submitted your application it is not open for revisions.

TEAMS: The application will be successfully submitted only after each member has completed their portion. Only after the last team member has submitted their portion will the application will be complete.

Each team member should print their individual coversheet. Teams should mail their coversheets in together.

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE MADE BY 5:00 pm CST on Tuesday, January 16, 2007.

POST SUBMISSION

Following your submission online, you will receive an email confirming that your FFT representative has received your application.

REMEMBER: you must submit your signed coversheet by mail. Coversheets must be postmarked by Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Applicants who do not submit coversheets will be deemed ineligible and will not be considered for funding.
