Alabama Public Television

The mission of Alabama Public Television (APT) is to provide educational opportunities and services to Alabama residents through the use of the latest and most prevalent communications technologies. Established in 1953 by an act of the State of Alabama Legislature and with the first broadcast signal sent in 1955, APT was the first statewide educational television network in the United States. APT’s mission is fulfilled through its award-winning on-air productions, its groundbreaking online educational resources, including award-winning electronic field trips, and its online and face-to-face workshops for educators.
