The mission of the Marcus Foster Education Fund (MFEF) is to develop relationships and mobilize resources that create opportunities for all children in the Oakland Public Schools to achieve excellence. Founded by and renamed for the late Oakland Schools superintendent in 1973, the Fund has worked since inception to transform urban education through active community engagement. MFEF serves Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) students, their families, and teachers. The Fund has a well-regarded track record of providing essential educational supports and service to a culturally, racially, and socially diverse community. Our program areas include college & career readiness, parent engagement, teacher development, and a district-wide Principal for a Day event.
