Atlanta Education Fund (Atlanta Program) Mission Overview: In 2007, a broad-based coalition of Atlanta leaders established the Atlanta Education Fund (AEF) as a way to unify and target community support for the school district's transformation initiatives. Enthusiastically endorsed by Atlanta's community leaders, the AEF focuses on three key functions in carrying out its mission (1) Supporting and incubating Atlanta Public School (APS) transformation initiatives (College Success), (2) Engaging the public to keep them informed and involved with the transformation efforts, and (3) Researching and evaluating critical policy issues, best practices, and trends relevant to the district's success. In essence, the AEF facilitates and coordinates private support for APS, as well as ensures that the community's resources are being focused to support the school districts' most important strategic priorities. 1. College Success: Established a broad collaboration of College Access Provider Organizations, Post-secondary Institutions, the APS and other Non-profit leaders to accelerate and sustain the performance of APS students. We use best practice research and data driven strategies in alignment with APS transformation efforts to support appropriate interventions and promote progress. 2. Public Engagement: Allows increased awareness, understanding and support of the APS transformation plans. This engagement increases a growing sense of community ownership and accountability for the school system. With that, there will be an awareness of identifiable opportunities for meaningful community involvement, and the creation of a community-held image of a transformed and confident school system. 3. Research and Evaluation: These resources assess "best practices" in the focus areas for reform efforts and investigate other critical policy or instructional topics relevant to APS' success. This includes identifying "Best Practices" for selected reform proposals, recognizing new trends in national reform efforts and in broader statewide education policy issues, and evaluating and monitoring data that is related to success of APS. 250 Williams Street, Suite 2115 |
