Hyam is a 2017 Chicago Fellow, and former Math/Special Education teacher. She and a colleague traveled to Malaysia to “Investigate programs within refugee and public schools in Malaysia to expand existing advisory curriculum by creating a series of meaningful units that meet the specific social and emotional needs of Malaysian and refugee students.”
She has presented her fellowship at Info Sessions, including the Chicago Foundation for Education Workshop, and is an active participant in our Mentor Program. Last year, Hyam moved to Seattle, Washington to take on a new role for Seattle Public Schools as the Social Emotional Learning Consulting Teacher. Her role involves work in district-wide SEL supports and supporting secondary administrators, staff, families, and students in all things SEL.
